The club was established in 2013, based in Tarporley, Cheshire - a village of some 2,000 inhabitants with a rural catchment area of around a similar size. Tarporley is situated near the A49/A51 between Chester (11 miles) and Nantwich (8 miles). In years gone by Tarporley was a coaching stop on the road between London and Chester.
Tarporley and District u3a currently has around 540 members. We are a Registered Charity - number 1171370.
We are surrounded by a number of villages and smaller communities including Tiverton, Bunbury, Tarvin, Kelsall, Calveley, Little Budworth, Alpraham, Beeston and Eaton. About 50% of our members live in Tarporley and 50% in the surrounding area. The next nearest u3a to us is in Tattenhall and members can join more than one u3a if they wish.

You can view all U.K. u3a organisations on a map. Use the search symbol to find a place of interest.
Everyone is welcome to attend one of our monthly meetings and if you decide to join, our membership secretary is here to help you. If you would like to know more or ask any questions this site does not answer, please get in touch with our Membership Secretary. The annual subscription is currently £12 for our September 1 - August 31 year (reduced through the first year for anyone joining in December onwards).
Our groups cover a wide variety of hobbies and interests, and also some physical activities and sports. We also organise trips out to theatres, gardens, museums, galleries and historic towns. We are always on the look out for new groups. Please contact us if you have any ideas for new groups that you could participate in.
You can find more details on the Groups pages.
Tarporley & District u3a is managed by an executive committee, elected annually by the members, in accordance with a reviewed and agreed Constitution. Click on Documents tab to access the constitution.
