Interest Groups

The groups are the key part of our u3a. All the groups are initiated by a member, or members, who have a particular interest in common. One
member acts as Convenor, who organises the group, but the success of the groups depends on individual members who explore ideas, share knowledge and meet other like-minded members.

All groups are independently organised. Groups are self financing, for example, hiring and paying for rooms as required. Please note that some groups are very popular and may be full. If there are waiting lists then where possible we will try and form a second group. The table below shows our current groups. Click on a group to find out more. Many groups meet at Tarporley Community Centre (TCC). Others meet at other local venues such as members' houses, other community centres, village halls, church halls or local pubs. Walking groups meet at a prescribed place in the countryside.

If you are a member of Tarporley & District u3a and would like to attend one of the groups, the easiest option is to go to the relevant group page and click on the icon at the top right hand corner to send an email to the group convenor. Alternatively, you can contact the Interest Groups Co-ordinator by clicking on Group Enquiry.

We are always looking to expand our range of activities and, if you are interested in forming a new group then please let the Interest Groups Co-ordinator know. As above, click on Group Enquiry.

Members’ safety is the paramount concern for all groups. Each group has completed a risk assessment, available from the Convenor. For Groups involving physical activities, such as walking, table tennis and trips, members need to be aware of the physical demands. It is the members’ responsibility to ensure they are capable of taking part.

All members are advised to carry an In Case of Emergency (ICE) card with details of emergency contacts. Cards are available from the Group Convenor or by clicking on ICE Card
