Book Group 1 aims to be a meeting of those who enjoy reading and want to discuss their views on titles brought forward by the members. In this way we cover a wide range of reading matter - mostly , but not entirely, fiction. We do not shy from challenging ourselves with books we may not have immediately thought to pick up, therefore widening our reading choices and even looking outside our comfort zone.

The meetings are lively discussions on likes and dislikes of the book's context, characters, narrative and perhaps style of writing. Often the book choice will spark wide ranging discussion and numbers for the group are limited to allow for everyone to have the opportunity to voice an opinion.

All members get to pick a title and the group aims to cover a twelve months period giving suitable notice of forthcoming titles. We provide our own copies of books, and titles chosen will not necessarily be the latest publication as we wish to keep the costs of books, either paper or electronic, to a reasonable level for all.

The group meet on the third Thursday of the month in the Committee Room at Tarporley Community Centre at 14.00 . The session is a period of two hours. The cost of the room hire is collected from group members on an annual basis , but, currently, amounts to approximately £1.00 a month only.

Refreshments are enjoyed towards the end of the meeting which we all share in providing. Social links are made during this informal time and the group meets occasionally during the year to cement their love of literature in a more informal setting.
